This belt was handcrafted using the traditional belt

making method. First, the belt strap is hand cut with

a knife and then hand dyed with a cotton cloth in the

desired color. When the paint has dried,

the belt strap is twisted and turned by two people and

the distinctive grain appears on the belt. A special type

of wax is then applied to the belt to preserve the color

and those special effects created by twisting and stretching

the belt strap. Finally, rubbing with a wool rag will achieve

the desired finish and shine.
